Morning All
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that ENL has been successful in tendering the replacement of the Raymarine navigation system on board all of the RNZN J3 Ribs.
Initially this will be 9 systems, and in 6 month’s time the Navy will decide if they upgrade the rest of fleet with new consoles, or replace with complete new units ( a further 18 boats)
We have successfully passed FATS (Factory acceptance testing) and thanks to Tim also past SATS (sea trial acceptance tests)
The system comprises of
Display: TZT12 with MCU-002 control and P79 shoot thru transducer
GPS: GP330
Heading Sensor: PG700
Radar – DRS4D-NXT
Probably the most challenging part (apart from the mountains of paperwork) was proving radar performance, which they successfully did yesterday, marking the tops of the coromandel ranges 32nm away ( as per Furuno’s spec sheet) – it is re assuring that the unit does exactly what it says on the box.
It is worth mentioning that we beat stiff competition from off shore suppliers and Navico to be successful with this, and the Navy are over the moon with the performance of the system.
“I managed to get the transducer issue sorted (leaking housing) and happy with the results. Looks awesome.
Also, I managed to get out to Takapuna and got a small radar echo from the Coromandel, so ticked the box there too.
Overall I am really happy with the kit and I have demonstrated to a few of the guys and they are impressed too.”
